But depending on the map, your tactic, or the opponent you may want to change that. You need to build at least one more miner out of the war factory. One miner isn’t enough to keep you from running out of money. So now we have an ore refinery next to the ore and one miner mining and we’re all set.

Plan your base ahead so you reach the second patch before you run out of ore on the first. And don’t do that just for the first ore patch. The less the miners travel, the faster your money flows in. The closer you place that refinery to the ore patch the less your miners have to travel. That way you can place down the refinery as close as possible to that ore. What does that mean? When you know which ore patch you’re going to be mining from first, you place down buildings towards that ore patch. In the previous tip I said you need to plan your build in advance. You also know points of interest around the map like choke points, tech buildings and so on. You can predict where the opponent will build.

Different trace elements can produce other colors, allowing beryl to form semiprecious stones such as aquamarine. The color comes from additional traces of chromium and vanadium.
There are a number of semiprecious gems, many quite beautiful, but diamonds, rubies, sapphires, and emeralds continue to qualify as "precious." (At one time, amethyst was also considered a precious gem, but large reserves were later found in Brazil, reducing its value.) Historically, gems have been divided into precious and semiprecious classes. It's only when they are cut and polished that they obtain the brilliance and luster that gives them their value. Uncut gems often look fairly ordinary–like rocks. Many minerals form beautiful crystals, but the most prized of all are gemstones. Oxides, sulfides, sulfates, carbonates, and halides are other major mineral classes. Silicates-including quartz, mica, olivine, and precious minerals such as emeralds-are the most common class of minerals, as well as the major components of most rocks. Rocks themselves are made of clusters or mixtures of minerals, and minerals and rocks affect landform development and form natural resources such as gold, tin, iron, marble, and granite. Geologists can tell a chalcedony from the arrangement and structure of its crystals. Chalcedonies include many types of cryptocrystalline quartz gems and feature a number of different colors.
